Top High End Piston Financed Through AOPA Finance in 2021

Special Edition: Top High End Piston of 2021 as financed through AOPA Finance

  1. Cirrus SR22
  2. Piper Malibu Mirage
  3. Diamond DA62

The fact that the SR22 tops the list is not surprising. Cirrus has become one of the most ubiquitous aircraft manufacturers. Add to that the company’s award-winning customer service and it’s easy to understand its popularity.

As for the Malibu Mirage, its mission fits particularly well out west, where folks need pressurized aircraft to fly comfortably above the mountains. It’s also the only pressurized piston single still in production. And its club seating configuration is comfortable regardless of which terrain you fly over. In the recent past, the Malibu Mirage has been a relatively overlooked airplane, but not because it lacks capability. 2021 seems to be the year a lot of pilot-owners recognized the pricing discrepancy and understand its real potential.

We usually don’t get a twin sitting atop the top selling high-end piston list, but the Diamond DA62 is a great entry-level light twin. It’s easy to fly, has a tremendous glide ratio and seats eight. It also has a useful load of over 1,500 pounds, and runs on Jet A, while burning as little as 15 GPH per side. More importantly, the DA62 was certified less than a decade ago, making it a young airframe. That’s a huge plus in the used market.

Great advice. Great rates. From helpful and responsive reps you can trust. Three good reasons to turn to AOPA Aviation Finance when you are buying or refinancing an airplane.
